Anne Kelly: ‘Haberdashery Box’ workshop
In this two-day course with artist, author and tutor Anne Kelly learn how to design a covering for a small cardboard suitcase or box to create your own unique sewing/craft box. Your design could be based on haberdashery, and feature buttons, sewing implements, haberdashery and dress patterns or could even be a floral design. Using a range of simple and adaptable techniques taken from Anne’s books, you will design your own pattern. Layers of textile collage, applique and stitch will be used to create work which will then be attached to the item you bring along to cover.
Materials and equipment are provided but please bring a small cardboard suitcase (new or second hand) OR a sturdy card/wooden box (open or lidded), fabrics in your chosen theme/colour scheme that include thin wadding or wool blanket (enough to cover your piece), a base layer of calico, patterned fabric or old patchwork fragments and smaller pieces of fabric or haberdashery items to decorate your piece.
The workshop is 10 - 4pm
