American Smocking Masterclass with Jennifer Collier

£1.00 - £50.00

As part of her Arts Council Grant to develop her creative practice Jennifer has been learning new stitches and techniques, and discovering how to translate the art of lost stitches onto paper, as these techniques are an important part of our creative heritage and she wants to continue to invest time in them to keep them in the present, offering them onto future generations.

Therefore we are hosting subsidised masterclasses so she can pass on these techniques to others. In this American Smocking Masterclass Jennifer will teach four of her very favourites: Floral (Flower Pattern) Smocking, Lozenge (Grid) Smocking. Lattice (Trellis) Smocking and Arrowhead (Dragon Scale) Smocking. With these particular techniques the back is just as beautiful as the front, and Jennifer has been experimenting with embracing the threads that trail over to the next stitch...

Please note in this workshop Jennifer will be teaching you these techniques using fabric.

We are offering 2 free spaces for individuals who have financial challenges, caring responsibilities, or any other barrier in accessing art workshops.
