Liz Cooksey: ‘New Horizons’ 2 day workshop

£170.00

In this workshop we will use an oval embroidery ring as both frame and structure, creating a horizon inspired by forms and patterns found in nature. Using fine hand-dyed threads and fabric, we will explore wrapping and binding techniques, with hand stitching added for texture and embellishment. Fragments of paper and print, along with small pieces of needle tatting, will be incorporated to bring variety and contrast. Wire will be used to provide structure and strength, with small wire explorations embedded into the frame to take advantage of its depth and create relief.
By combining fabrics, delicate threads, and structured wire, participants will build layered surfaces that play with shape, texture resulting in a unique mixed-media piece contained within the embroidery ring.

All materials and equipment are provided, but you may wish to bring your own scrap fabrics and papers, threads, buttons and haberdashery to personalise the work. Oval embroidery rings will be available to purchase from Liz on the day.

The workshop is 10 - 4pm
